About Us
Escrick.Net was established by Steve Smowton to provide I.T. services to the
home and small business community around York and Selby.
Steve has over 30 years experience in the I.T. industry. He worked at one of
the original IBM personal computer vendors - Care Software Technology in
Reading - when the PC was introduced into this country in the early 1980s. He
then moved into I.T. management and a succession of roles led to a
relocation north to Escrick in 1987. In addition to his professional I.T. career he
has installed, maintained and repaired the computers of many local residents,
in addition to leading the successful campaign for the introduction of
broadband into the village in 2004.
He is also fortunate to be in a position to call on help and assistance from a
group of people highly experienced in all aspects of computing when the
need arises.
